Privacy Policy

Resynq is operated by Cadus Labs LLC. This policy describes the Resynq nutrition app and its support website. The app lets adults scan food barcodes, search foods, view explained nutrition ratings, and save food history.

Information We Collect

We process the following information to operate these features:

Your email address, account identifier, sign-in verification status, and session information. We send one-time email codes for sign-in and sensitive account actions.
Your selected nutrition goal, confirmation that you are 18 or older, and any optional condition you choose to enter. A condition is sensitive health information. You can use a general nutrition goal without entering one.
Food barcode values, food search terms, selected foods, nutrition assessments, and saved food history. Profile and history records are stored on our backend and linked to your account.
Label photos you choose to upload, the product facts you enter or confirm, extraction results, and your upload, optional AI-processing, and contribution choices. Private label drafts and their evidence are linked to your account.
When optional apple-variety photo assistance is enabled and you consent, the selected apple photo is processed to suggest possible varieties. Resynq does not save that photo or the AI response in its catalog or your history. We keep limited consent and processing-attempt metadata. A food reference you later select and assess can be saved in your food history.
Technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as IP addresses, request timestamps, app version, and error or security logs.
Support communications, including messages you send to us and related contact information.

How We Use Information

We use your email to authenticate you and respond to account requests. We use your goal and food selections to generate explained nutrition ratings and show your history. We use technical information to keep the service available, investigate errors, and prevent misuse. Support messages are used to answer your request.

Camera and Food Lookups

Camera access is optional. Barcode decoding happens on your device. Separately, you can take or select a label photo and explicitly agree to upload it to Resynq. Those uploaded photos are stored with your private label draft; they are not public catalog images. Optional apple-variety photo assistance uses a separate consent flow described below. You can enter a barcode or search for food without camera or photo access. This version does not identify arbitrary meals from photographs.

Our backend may send a food barcode or food search text to Open Food Facts or USDA FoodData Central. It does not include your email, account identifier, selected goal, or entered condition in those food lookup requests. Enter food names only in food search. Do not put personal or medical details in that field.

Nutrition scoring uses defined software rules, not a generative AI rating. Where optional AI label transcription is enabled, we ask for separate consent before sending the selected draft's label images to OpenAI to extract product text and nutrient values. We do not include your email, nutrition goal, entered condition, or saved food history in that request. Images can themselves contain personal information: crop out faces, receipts, names, and other unrelated details before uploading. You can instead enter the label facts manually.

Where apple-variety photo assistance is enabled, choosing a photo does not upload it. You must explicitly agree to upload that photo to Resynq and send it to OpenAI for variety suggestions. Resynq removes image metadata before sending it and does not include your email, account identifier, nutrition goal, condition, or saved history. The photo itself can reveal personal details, so include only the apple and any relevant produce label. The response may suggest likely varieties but cannot verify the fruit, its exact nutrients, or organic status. You choose which reference to use, or continue with manual search or a generic apple reference.

AI output can be wrong. You must review the label values before confirming them. We request that the API response not be stored as an application response, but that is not a guarantee of zero provider retention; OpenAI's applicable safety and retention rules may still apply. Optional Product Contributions

Your draft stays private unless you separately submit it for catalog review. Submission lets an authorized reviewer inspect the label evidence and proposed facts. Only approved, non-personal product facts are added to the shared catalog. Your account identifier, original photos, and AI response are not published there. Approved product facts can remain available to other users after you delete the draft or account.

Android Barcode Scanner Diagnostics

On Android, the barcode scanner uses Google's ML Kit software. Google receives technical metrics such as device model and operating-system version, app name and version, an installation identifier, processing performance, scanner configuration, and feature or error events. Google uses these metrics for diagnostics and usage analytics. They are separate from Resynq's account and nutrition records.

Barcode images and decoding results are processed on your device and are not sent to Google by ML Kit. Resynq does not provide your email, nutrition goal, entered condition, or saved food history to the scanner SDK. Camera permission controls camera access; it is not a separate switch for the SDK's technical metrics. Read Google's ML Kit data disclosure and ML Kit privacy information for details. The iOS barcode scanner uses Apple's on-device Vision framework rather than ML Kit.

Health Information

An optional condition and food history can reveal sensitive health information. Entering a condition does not make the app a medical service or create a disease-specific diet. Resynq provides general nutrition information and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical conditions.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or use your health information for advertising. Service providers process information needed to host and secure the app, deliver sign-in emails, and handle support. Food database services receive only the lookup details described above. OpenAI receives selected label or apple photos only when the corresponding optional AI feature is enabled and you explicitly consent. Google processes the Android scanner's technical metrics described above under its applicable terms and privacy policy. We may disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and safety, with your direction, or as part of a business transaction subject to applicable protections.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk and improve safeguards over time.

Data Retention

We keep your nutrition profile, saved history, and private label drafts while your account is active, unless you delete a draft earlier. Verified account deletion removes these records and their stored label images from the active service. Approved non-personal catalog facts are retained separately. Limited security or legal records may be retained where necessary; restricted backup copies age out under the applicable backup schedule. We do not use retained backup copies to provide the app. Contact us for details about information retained for your request.

Unlike stored label drafts, apple-variety photos and their AI responses are processed for the current request without being saved by Resynq. Limited consent and processing-attempt records are retained for security and accountability. OpenAI's applicable retention rules still apply to photos sent to its service, as described above.

Your Choices

You can update your goal in your profile and initiate account deletion in the app. You can also request access, correction, or deletion by email. See Delete Account for both routes. Camera access can be revoked in your device settings. Signing out removes the app's local session credentials but does not delete your account or history.

Adults Only

This app is intended for adults 18 and older. Do not create an account or submit information if you are under 18. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date when changes are made.
